Eric Clapton's Guitar Auctions off More than Double the Expected Amount

Eric Clapton, a British singer-songwriter, auctioned off his guitar for $45,000. The best part about this purchase is that the proceeds will be used to pay off the medical bills of a notorious Texas musician, Johnny Nicholas, who recently lost his wife to leukemia. Nicholas is a member of the Grammy Award-winning band, “Asleep at the Wheel.” They will also go toward leukemia research. According to Heritage Auctions in Dallas, the high bid on Saturday was telephoned. The bidder of the 2014 Fender Stratocaster electric guitar sought anonymity. However, the bid was more than twice the expectation. Clapton played the guitar last year at his “Slowhand at 70” concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
